MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Gregor Biernath Joins from Sky

Gregor Biernath is moving from Sky to MagentaTV to strengthen the new golf team as extensive live coverage kicks off.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has attracted a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The broadcasts begin next week, on January 15, 2026, making MagentaTV the new home for live golf on television, covering a total of 131 events across two channels.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Good for Golf is Emerging’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking region, is leaving Sky to lead MagentaTV’s new expert team. He is supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath said about his move: ‘The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf is emerging here. We can innovate and refresh golf broadcasting at MagentaTV.’ He also described the team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and praised the ‘really good mix.’

New faces were also sought in the commentary team. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will now cover golf events alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known mainly as a hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also join the live broadcasts.
