MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Gregor Biernath Joins from Sky

Gregor Biernath switches from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the new golf team for extensive live broadcasts starting soon.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights to the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has also attracted a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The live broadcasts will begin the week of January 15, 2026, with MagentaTV presenting a total of 131 golf events across two channels, positioning itself as the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Good is Emerging for Golf’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky TV to MagentaTV. Biernath will lead the new expert team, supported by golf specialists Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Commenting on his move, Biernath said, ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf can emerge here. We can design and shake up golf innovatively at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ with a ‘really good mix.’

New faces have also been found for the commentator roles. Michael Born, previously known as a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to commentate on golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, previously known mainly as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also cover the upcoming live broadcasts.
