Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.
After securing exclusive broadcasting rights to the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV is boosting its golf coverage by bringing on a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The broadcasts will begin on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 live golf events across two channels on MagentaTV, positioning it as a new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Great is Emerging for Golf”
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, transitions from Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, supported by golf professionals Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath commented on his move: “The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and great for golf is being created here. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage on MagentaTV.” He also described the new team as a “cool editorial team” with a “really good mix.”
New faces have also been added to the commentator lineup. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in covering golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily for ice hockey hosting on MagentaSport, will accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
