Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening their new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.
After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has recruited a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The broadcasts will start on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 live golf events on two channels, making MagentaTV the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Good is Emerging for Golf’
Gregor Biernath, one of the best-known golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Commenting on his move, Biernath said, ‘The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf is taking shape here. We can shape and refresh golf coverage innovatively at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and a ‘really good mix.’
New faces have also been brought in for commentary. Michael Born, who has worked as a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to commentate on golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known for his work as a hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
