Matti Schmid slips to seventh after round three at the World Wide Technology Championship. Rosenmüller and Paul climb.
The third round of the World Wide Technology Championship on the PGA Tour ended on a disappointing note for German golfer Matti Schmid. After leading the field on Friday, Schmid dropped six spots on Saturday. He opened the round with a birdie on the first hole but immediately gave up his lead with a bogey on the second. That bogey ended his streak of bogey-free rounds. Despite adding more birdies, two additional bogeys led to a 71 for the day. After opening rounds of 64 and 63, Schmid now sits at 19-under-par in seventh place.
South African Garrick Higgo surged to the top of the leaderboard with a stunning 61 on Saturday, moving up from 15th to first. At 22-under-par, he leads a group of four Americans close behind. Carson Young carded a 63 and is one stroke back at 21-under. Trevor Cone, Chad Ramey, and Ben Griffin are tied for third at 20-under-par.
Rosenmüller and Paul make moves on PGA Tour
At El Cardonal at Diamante in Mexico, Germans Thomas Rosenmüller and Jeremy Paul made significant gains on moving day. Rosenmüller started strong with an eagle on the first hole and added seven birdies, offset by just one bogey on the second. His 64 moved him up five spots into a tie for 16th at 15-under-par.
Jeremy Paul followed closely with a bogey-free 65 that included seven birdies. The 31-year-old from Frankfurt climbed four spots and now sits tied for 23rd at 14-under-par, just one stroke behind Rosenmüller.
