Matti Schmid slips from the lead to seventh place after Round 3. Rosenmüller and Paul climb the leaderboard with strong rounds.
The third round of the PGA Tour‘s World Wide Technology Championship ended on a disappointing note for German contender Matti Schmid. After leading the leaderboard on Friday, Schmid fell six spots on Saturday. He started strong with a birdie on the first hole but quickly gave up his advantage with a bogey on the second, ending his bogey-free streak. Despite balancing out two more bogeys with birdies, Schmid finished the round with a 71, unable to match his earlier 64 and 63. He now sits at 19-under-par in seventh place.
South African Garrick Higgo surged to the top with an impressive 61 on Saturday, climbing from 15th to first place at 22-under-par. He is closely followed by American Carson Young, who shot a 63 and is one stroke behind. Third place is shared by Americans Trevor Cone, Chad Ramey, and Ben Griffin, all at 20-under-par.
Rosenmüller and Paul make moves in Mexico
At El Cardonal at Diamante in Mexico, Germans Thomas Rosenmüller and Jeremy Paul made significant progress on moving day. Rosenmüller opened with an eagle on the first hole and added seven birdies, offsetting a single bogey on the second. His strong 64 moved him up five spots to a tie for 16th at 15-under-par.
Close behind is Jeremy Paul, who delivered a flawless 65 with seven birdies. The 31-year-old from Frankfurt climbed four spots and now sits tied for 23rd at 14-under-par, just one stroke behind Rosenmüller.
