Ben Griffin secures his third PGA Tour victory of the season, while Matti Schmid finishes strong in the top 10.
Griffin wins World Wide Technology Championship
Starting the final round two shots behind, Ben Griffin surged ahead to win the World Wide Technology Championship by two strokes, marking his third PGA Tour victory this season. With this win, he joins Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy as the only players with three wins in the current campaign.
“Crazy — three wins and a wedding in the same year, it’s hard to top that,” said Griffin, who is set to marry his fiancée Dana Myeroff next month. He quickly applied pressure on leader Garrick Higgo with three birdies in the first four holes to tie for the lead. A bogey on hole 5 briefly set him back, but a streak of five consecutive birdies put him ahead. Higgo then dropped out of contention with a double bogey on the 12th.
Chad Ramey and Sami Valimaki made late charges with four birdies each, finishing tied for second, but Griffin sealed the deal with a birdie on the final hole.
Strong finishes for Schmid, Paul, and Rosenmüller
Germany’s Matti Schmid bounced back from a tough third round to post a 66 and secure a top-10 finish. Jeremy Paul also carded a 66 to finish T16, while Thomas Rosenmüller ended one shot behind in T17, capping off a solid week for the German contingent.
