Davis Riley Takes Lead Despite Challenging Round
Following the cut at -1, 74 players headed into the weekend of the PGA Tour event in Hawaii. On the Moving Day, Davis Riley surged to the top of the leaderboard thanks to numerous birdies. Despite an early bogey, the American remained composed to complete a fluctuating yet effective round featuring six birdies against three bogeys, including one on the closing hole.
After his round, Riley commented on the tough wind and putting conditions: \”You have to try to hole some putts on the fast greens and in the wind when you get the chance.\” With a day score of -3, Riley now stands at -12 overall, holding a two-shot lead going into the final day over contenders Chris Gotterup, Kevin Roy, and Harry Hall.
Harry Hall Positions Himself Strongly Ahead of Finale
Harry Hall had an impressive Saturday round, shooting -4 to climb well up the leaderboard before the final day. His performance included five birdies highlighting his skill on and around the greens, with only a bogey at the 15th hole. Hall achieved a top-10 finish at last year’s Sony Open and looks poised to do even better this year.
Defending Champion Nick Taylor Remains in Contention
Defending champ Nick Taylor had an even-par round with four birdies and four bogeys, dropping to -9 overall but staying within striking distance for the title defense. Just behind, Corey Conners surged with a strong -5 round featuring seven birdies and two bogeys, currently at -8. Conners found momentum on the back nine, stringing together four consecutive birdies from hole 9 onwards. He remarked, \”I like it when it’s windy here.\”
