Cameron Young surges to share lead at Hero World Challenge

Cameron Young fires a stunning 64 to tie for the lead, while Scottie Scheffler and Sepp Straka slip down the leaderboard.

At the Hero World Challenge on the PGA Tour, held at the exclusive Albany Resort in the Bahamas and hosted by Tiger Woods, Cameron Young delivered a sensational second round to climb to a share of the lead. After a modest opening round of 70, Young caught fire on day two with a brilliant 64. He played conservatively on the front nine with two birdies, but found his rhythm on the back nine, carding five birdies and an eagle, with only two pars and a closing bogey. His eight-under round brought him to ten-under-par overall, tying him at the top with Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama (66), Wyndham Clark (68), J.J. Spaun (68), and fellow American Akshay Bhatia (68).

PGA Tour: Scheffler and Straka fall back after strong start

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Austrian Sepp Straka dropped to T6 alongside Sweden’s Alex Noren after sharing the lead following round one. Scheffler opened his second round with a bogey on hole 2 but recovered with three birdies on the front nine. He remained bogey-free on the back nine until a costly double bogey on the 17th hole, despite picking up a birdie on 14 and an eagle on 15. He signed for a 69, matched by Straka. The Austrian also bogeyed the second hole, offset it with a birdie on 3, but gave another shot back on 4. He steadied his round with two more birdies on the front nine and added two more on the back nine, but couldn’t gain further ground.
