Cameron Young fires a 64 to tie for the lead, while Scottie Scheffler and Sepp Straka slip after strong starts.
At the Hero World Challenge, the exclusive PGA Tour invitational hosted by Tiger Woods at Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas, Cameron Young made a bold move to the top of the leaderboard. After opening with a 70, Young delivered a stellar second round of 64. He started the front nine with two birdies but found his rhythm on the back nine, carding five birdies and an eagle, with only two pars and a single bogey. His 8-under round brought him to 10-under overall, tying him for the lead with Hideki Matsuyama (66), Wyndham Clark (68), J.J. Spaun (68), and fellow American Akshay Bhatia (68).
Scottie Scheffler and Sepp Straka fall back
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Austrian Sepp Straka dropped to T6 alongside Sweden’s Alex Noren after sharing the lead in round one. Scheffler opened with a bogey on the 2nd hole but recovered with three birdies on the front nine. He added a birdie on 14 and an eagle on 15, but a double bogey on 17 dampened his round, finishing with a 69. Straka mirrored Scheffler’s score, starting with a bogey on 2, offsetting it with a birdie on 3, and adding two more birdies on the front. He added two more birdies on the back nine but couldn’t avoid slipping down the leaderboard.
