Justin Rose Breaks Tiger Woods Record at Farmers Insurance Open 2026

Justin Rose led from day one at the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, breaking a Tiger Woods record at age 45.

At 45 years old, Justin Rose dominated the competition at the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, winning by seven strokes with a tournament record of 23 under par at Torrey Pines. From the beginning, he firmly held the lead and set new scoring records after each round.

PGA Tour: Justin Rose Wins with Tournament Record

In the final round, Rose needed just a 70 to secure a comfortable victory. With three birdies on the front nine, the Englishman extended his lead, and despite a bogey on the 12th hole on the back nine, he had enough cushion to remain relaxed. Instead, he focused on breaking the tournament record of 22 under par, previously set by Tiger Woods in 1999. \”That was the only thing I concentrated on during the last three holes,\” Rose said afterwards.

\”The fact that I was able to increase my lead every day is something I’m naturally proud of as a player because you feel like you can handle the pressure from start to finish, improve continuously, and keep moving forward,\” Rose said at his winner’s press conference. \”Maybe that’s something I hadn’t achieved before, so I’m very satisfied with that.\”

And although there was little to fault in his golf game, he attributes his success mainly to mental strength. \”I was just very disciplined this week. Of course, I played well, but I felt I managed my game smartly, thought through my shots, was patient at the right moments, and was able to compensate for small mistakes by sinking the right putts at the right time. There was a lot of real mental maturity from a strategic golf perspective.\”

Stephan Jäger Finishes in Top 5

With Rose unreachable at the top, the rest competed fiercely for second place. Pierceson Coody shot a 65, the best round of the day, climbing 12 spots to claim that rank, sharing it with Si Woo Kim and Roy Hisatsune. Just behind them, Stephan Jäger finished tied for fifth at 15 under par. He brought home a solid 68 on the final day. While Jäger had fluctuated between birdie streaks and bogey struggles in previous days, the final round showed a bit of both. Three inaccurate shots led to bogeys, but with seven birdies total, he maintained his spot in the top 10. After missing the cut at the American Express, this result is a positive sign for the new year and his best since the Sony Open in January 2025.

Brooks Koepka closed the tournament with a 70, finishing tied 56th, completing his first week back on the PGA Tour. \”The biggest change is that I don’t know half the players,\” Koepka said after the event. \”There have been some changes over the last four years. I know half the guys, the other half I don’t. It will be an exciting year getting to know everyone, and I’m looking forward to it.\”
