PGA Tour: Justin Rose Wins with Tournament Record

In the final round, a 70 was enough to secure a comfortable victory. With three birdies on the front nine, the Englishman extended his lead. Despite a bogey on the 12th hole on the back nine, Rose had enough buffer to remain untroubled. Instead, he focused on surpassing the tournament record of 22 under par set by Tiger Woods in 1999. \”That was the only thing I focused on during the last three holes,\” Rose said afterward.

\”The fact that I was able to increase my lead every day is something I’m proud of as a player. It feels like dealing with that pressure from start to finish, improving and moving forward continuously,\” Rose said in his winner’s press conference. \”Maybe that’s something I hadn’t achieved before, so I’m very happy with that.\”

Although his golf game was nearly flawless, he credited his mental strength for his success. \”I was just very disciplined this week. Of course, I played well, but I felt I managed my game smartly, was patient at the right moments, and was able to compensate for small mistakes by sinking the right putt at the right time. There was a lot of real mental maturity from a strategic golf perspective.\”

Stephan Jäger in the Top 5

With Rose untouchable at the top, the rest battled for second place. Pierceson Coody shot a 65, the best round of the day, moving up 12 spots to share second place with Si Woo Kim and Roy Hisatsune. Just behind them, Stephan Jäger finished tied for fifth at 15 under par, closing with a 68. After previous rounds marked by extremes—either full birdie power or bogey struggles—his final round included a bit of both. Though three inaccurate shots led to bogeys, seven birdies helped him maintain his top 10 position. Following a missed cut at the American Express, this is a positive sign for the new year and his best result since the Sony Open in January 2025.

Brooks Koepka closed the tournament with a 70, finishing tied for 56th, completing his first week back on the PGA Tour. Koepka mentioned after the event that half of the players are new to him. \”There have been some changes over the last four years. I know half the guys; the other half, I don’t. It’s going to be an exciting year getting to know everyone, and I’m looking forward to it.\”
