Stephan Jäger Makes Strong Comeback at Farmers Insurance Open

Stephan Jäger starts a strong comeback with a flawless 65 round, climbing 39 spots to share 6th place before the final round.

The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, remains thrilling. At the top, 45-year-old American Justin Rose holds his lead despite some setbacks on the back nine during the third round.

Rose Holds the Lead Despite Back Nine Challenges

Rose shined on the front nine with four birdies but then faced three bogeys on the back nine. Although he made three additional birdies in the latter half, his 68 round could not match his impressive 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. Nevertheless, Rose maintains a six-shot lead atop the leaderboard at 21-under par.

American Joel Dahmen follows Rose, posting a strong 68 on day three. Dahmen moved up one position and currently holds sole possession of second place at 15-under par. Close behind are two Asian players tied at 13-under par: Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and South Korea’s Si Woo Kim, sharing third place (T3).

Both Hisatsune and Kim competed on the South Course on Saturday. Hisatsune balanced two bogeys on the front nine with three birdies and remained bogey-free on the back nine, adding three more birdies to finish with a 68. Kim scored a 69 with seven birdies and two bogeys, including a double bogey on hole 12, ending three under par for the day.

PGA Tour: Jäger’s Remarkable Comeback and Leap Up the Leaderboard

German player Stephan Jäger significantly improved after a 75 round the previous day. On Saturday, Jäger played flawlessly, scoring seven birdies for a strong 65, moving him up 39 spots to a share of sixth place (T6) heading into the final round.

Brooks Koepka, making his PGA Tour comeback from LIV Golf at the Farmers Insurance Open, had another mediocre round, finishing one over par and tied for 61st place. Matti Schmid made the cut on Friday but could only improve to a tie for 30th place following a 70 round.
