PGA Tour: Stephan Jäger Launches Comeback at Farmers Insurance Open

Stephan Jäger starts a strong comeback with a flawless 65, climbing 39 spots to T6 before the final round.

The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, remains exciting. At the top, 45-year-old American Justin Rose maintains his lead despite some setbacks on the back nine of the third round.

Rose Holds Lead Despite Struggles on Back Nine

Rose shined with four birdies on the front nine but made three bogeys on the back nine. Even three more birdies in the second half only resulted in a 68 round. He couldn’t match his 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday, but still leads the leaderboard by six shots at 21 under par.

Rose is chased by American Joel Dahmen, who also posted a strong 68 in the third round. Dahmen moved up one spot to sole second at 15 under par. Close behind, two Asian players share third place at 13 under par: Japanese Ryo Hisatsune and South Korean Si Woo Kim.

Both played on the South Course on day three. Hisatsune balanced two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and remained bogey-free on the back nine with another three birdies, finishing with a 68. Kim shot a 69, including a double bogey on hole 12. Seven birdies and two bogeys resulted in three under par for the day.

PGA Tour: Jäger’s Strong Comeback and Leap Up the Leaderboard

German Stephan Jäger significantly improved after a 75 the previous day. Error-free on Saturday, he recorded seven birdies and a strong 65, rising to tied 6th and gaining 39 spots on the leaderboard in one day.

Brooks Koepka, making his PGA Tour comeback from LIV Golf at the Farmers Insurance Open, struggled again on day three. Shooting one over par, he sits tied 61st. Matti Schmid made the cut Friday but could only improve 15 places to tied 30th with a 70-round.
