With a flawless 65, Stephan Jäger makes a strong comeback, climbing 39 spots to T6 before the final round.
The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, remains exciting. The 45-year-old American Justin Rose still holds the lead despite some setbacks on the back nine of the third round.
Rose maintains lead despite struggles on the back nine
Rose shined with four birdies on the front nine but suffered three bogeys on the back nine. Although he made three more birdies on the back nine, his 68 round could not match his outstanding 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. He remains at the top of the leaderboard with a six-stroke lead, standing 21 under par.
American Joel Dahmen follows closely, shooting a solid 68 on day three and moving up to solo second place at 15 under par. Two Asian players, Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and Korea’s Si Woo Kim, share third place at 13 under par.
Hisatsune balanced two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and was bogey-free on the back nine, adding three birdies for a 68 round. Kim had a 69 round with seven birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey on the 12th hole, finishing three under par for the day.
PGA Tour: Jäger’s strong comeback and leap forward
German Stephan Jäger significantly improved after a 75 the previous day. He was flawless on Saturday, posting seven birdies for a strong 65, climbing 39 positions to share sixth place (T6) on the leaderboard.
Brooks Koepka, making his PGA Tour comeback from LIV Golf, had a mediocre third round with one over par, tied for 61st. Matti Schmid made the cut but improved only 15 spots to tied 30th with a 70 round.
