Stephan Jäger starts a strong comeback with a flawless 65, moving up 39 places to T6 before the final round.
The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour, held at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, continues to be thrilling. At the top, 45-year-old American Justin Rose maintains his lead despite some setbacks on the back nine in the third round.
Rose Holds Lead Despite Back Nine Struggles
Rose dazzled with four birdies on the front nine but faced three bogeys on the back nine. Even with three additional birdies in the second half, he carded a 68-round, unable to match his earlier 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. Nevertheless, Rose remains six strokes ahead on the leaderboard, sitting at 21 under par.
Following him is American Joel Dahmen, who also shot a strong 68 on the third day, moving up a position to sole second place at 15 under par. Close behind are two Asian players at 13 under par each: Japanese Ryo Hisatsune and Korean Si Woo Kim, tied for third.
Hisatsune balanced two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and remained bogey-free with three more birdies on the back nine for a 68. Kim scored a 69, despite a double bogey on hole 12, finishing the day three under par with seven birdies and two bogeys.
PGA Tour: Jäger’s Strong Comeback and Leap Forward
German Stephan Jäger significantly improved after a 75 on the previous day. On Saturday, Jäger carded a flawless 65 with seven birdies, climbing 39 spots to a tie for sixth place (T6) on the leaderboard.
Brooks Koepka, making his PGA Tour comeback from LIV Golf at the Farmers Insurance Open, had an underwhelming third round, finishing one over par and tied for 61st. Matti Schmid made the cut and improved 15 places to T30 with a 70-round on Friday.
