PGA Tour: Stephan Jäger Makes Strong Comeback at Farmers Insurance Open

Stephan Jäger starts a strong comeback with a flawless 65, gaining 39 spots to stand T6 before the final round.

The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, continues to deliver excitement. At the top, the 45-year-old American Justin Rose maintains his lead despite some setbacks on the back nine of the third round.

Rose Holds Lead Despite Back Nine Struggles

Rose shined with four birdies on the front nine but encountered three bogeys on the back nine. Three additional birdies in the second half resulted in a 68 for the day, not quite matching his 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. Still, Rose retains a six-shot lead at 21-under par.

American Joel Dahmen, who also posted a strong 68 in round three, is in solo second place at 15-under. Close behind at 13-under are two Asian players sharing third place: Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and South Korea’s Si Woo Kim.

Both players competed on the course’s South Course Saturday. Hisatsune offset two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and played bogey-free on the back nine, adding three more birdies for a 68. Kim shot a 69 despite a double bogey on hole 12, finishing three under par for the day with seven birdies and two bogeys.

PGA Tour: Jäger’s Strong Comeback and Surge Forward

German Stephan Jäger rebounded significantly from a 75 on the previous day. Remaining flawless on Saturday, he recorded seven birdies for a strong 65, climbing 39 places to tie for sixth heading into the final round.

Brooks Koepka, making his PGA Tour comeback from LIV Golf, posted a mediocre third-round score of one over par and is tied for 61st. Matti Schmid made the cut but only improved 15 places to tie for 30th after a 70.
