With a flawless 65-round, Stephan Jäger sparks a strong comeback, climbing 39 spots to sit T6 before the final round.
The Farmers Insurance Open of the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California continues to provide excitement. At the top, the 45-year-old American Justin Rose maintains his lead despite some setbacks on the back nine of the third round.
Rose Holds the Lead Despite Back Nine Setbacks
Rose shined with four birdies on the front nine but faced three bogeys on the back nine. Although he added three more birdies on the closing holes, his 68-round fell short of his impressive 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. However, he still stays firmly at the top of the leaderboard with a six-shot lead and stands at 21 under par.
American Joel Dahmen follows closely with a strong 68 on day three, moving up one spot to second place at 15 under par. Close behind are two Asian players at 13 under par each: Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and South Korea’s Si Woo Kim, sharing third place (T3).
Both players proved their skills on the South Course on the third day. Hisatsune balanced two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and was bogey-free on the back nine with three more birdies, finishing with a 68. Kim posted a 69 with seven birdies, two bogeys, and one double bogey on hole 12, placing him three strokes under par for the day.
PGA Tour: Jäger’s Strong Comeback and Leap Forward
German player Stephan Jäger rebounded strongly after a 75 on the previous day. Remaining flawless on Saturday, he recorded seven birdies in a sturdy 65 round, propelling him up 39 positions to a shared sixth place (T6) on the leaderboard.
Brooks Koepka, marking his PGA Tour comeback from LIV Golf, had a mediocre third round, posting one over par and standing tied at 61st. Matti Schmid made the cut on Friday but only advanced 15 spots to tie for 30th with a 70 on Saturday.
