PGA Tour: Stephan Jäger Launches Comeback at the Farmers Insurance Open

Stephan Jäger fires a flawless 65 to surge 39 places and sits T6 heading into the final round.

The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, remains thrilling. At the top, 45-year-old American Justin Rose maintains his lead despite setbacks on the back nine during the third round.

Rose Holds Lead Despite Back Nine Struggles

Rose shone with four birdies on the front nine but suffered three bogeys on the back nine. Three additional birdies in the second half led to a 68 on the day, not matching his impressive 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. Nevertheless, Rose stays atop the leaderboard with a six-shot lead at 21-under par.

He is chased by American Joel Dahmen, who also posted a strong 68 to move into sole second place at 15-under par. Close behind, two Asian players share third place at 13-under par: Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and Korea’s Si Woo Kim.

Both played the South Course on day three. Hisatsune balanced two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and remained bogey-free on the back nine with three more birdies, finishing with a 68. Kim shot a 69, including a double bogey at hole 12, but seven birdies and two bogeys resulted in three under par for the day.

PGA Tour: Jäger’s Strong Comeback and Leap Forward

German Stephan Jäger significantly improved after a 75 the previous day. Remaining flawless on Saturday, he birdied seven times to card a strong 65, jumping 39 spots to a tie for sixth place.

Brooks Koepka, making his PGA Tour comeback from LIV Golf, had a mediocre third round with one over par, sitting tied 61st. Matti Schmid made the cut on Friday but only moved up 15 places to a tie for 30th with a 70 in round three.
