PGA Tour: Stephan Jäger Launches Comeback at Farmers Insurance Open

Stephan Jäger launches a strong comeback with a flawless 65, climbing 39 spots to tie for 6th ahead of the final round.

The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, remains thrilling. At the top, 45-year-old American Justin Rose holds his lead despite some setbacks on the back nine of the third round.

Rose Maintains Lead Despite Back Nine Struggles

Rose dazzled with four birdies on the front nine but faced three bogeys on the back nine. Though he added three more birdies in the second half, his 68-second round fell short of his Thursday 62 and Friday 65. Nevertheless, Rose keeps a six-shot lead at 21 under par.

He is pursued by American Joel Dahmen, who also posted a strong 68 in the third round, moving up one position to solo second at 15 under par. Close behind are two Asian players at 13 under par: Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and Korea’s Si Woo Kim, both tied for third (T3).

Both players competed on the South Course of the Californian golf course on day three. Hisatsune balanced two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and remained bogey-free on the back nine, where he made three more birdies to finish with a 68. Kim recorded a 69, including a double bogey on the 12th hole, but seven birdies and two bogeys still resulted in three under par for the day.

PGA Tour: Jäger’s Strong Comeback and Leap Forward

German Stephan Jäger significantly improved after a 75 on the previous day. Remaining flawless on Saturday with seven birdies, he shot a strong 65 and moved up 39 places to a tie for sixth (T6) on the leaderboard.

Brooks Koepka, celebrating his PGA Tour return from LIV Golf at the Farmers Insurance Open, had another mediocre third round, shooting one over par and ranking tied 61st. Matti Schmid made the cut on Friday but improved only 15 places to a tie for 30th with a 70 on Saturday.
