Stephan Jäger starts a strong comeback with a flawless 65, climbing 39 spots to T6 before the final round.
The Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, remains exciting. At the top, 45-year-old American Justin Rose maintains his lead despite some setbacks on the back nine of the third round.
Rose Holds Lead Despite Struggles on Back Nine
Rose shined with four birdies on the front nine but suffered three bogeys on the back nine. Three more birdies in the latter half brought him to a 68 for the day, not matching his 62 on Thursday and 65 on Friday. Nonetheless, Rose leads the leaderboard by six shots at 21 under par.
He is being chased by American Joel Dahmen, who also posted a strong 68 on the third day and moved up one spot to second place at 15 under par. Close behind are two Asian players at 13 under par: Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune and Korea’s Si Woo Kim, sharing third place (T3).
Both faced challenges on the South Course on day three. Hisatsune balanced two bogeys with three birdies on the front nine and remained bogey-free with three birdies on the back nine, finishing with a 68. Kim scored 69 on Saturday, including a double bogey on hole 12. Still, seven birdies and two bogeys gave him a total of three under par for the day.
PGA Tour: Jäger’s Strong Comeback and Leap Forward
After a 75 on the previous day, German Stephan Jäger bounced back impressively. Staying error-free on Saturday, he made seven birdies and shot a strong 65. This boosted him to a tie for sixth place (T6), gaining 39 spots in one day.
Brooks Koepka, marking his comeback from LIV Golf at the Farmers Insurance Open, had a mediocre third day, shooting one over par and tied for 61st place. Matti Schmid made the cut on Friday but only improved 15 spots to a tie for 30th with a 70.
