PGA Tour: Two Germans Make the Cut as Justin Rose Extends Lead

Schmid and Jäger make the cut at the PGA Tour Farmers Insurance Open while Justin Rose extends his lead.

Schmid and Jäger Advance to the Weekend

Matti Schmid secured the cut with a strong second round. After opening with a 73 (+1), the German shot a flawless 67 (-5) on Friday. Despite starting with a bogey, he remained error-free afterwards, recording six birdies on holes 2, 5, 7, 11, 13, and 15 to jump 57 places to a tie for 45th.

Stephan Jäger also made it through to the weekend. The German stands at -4 after two rounds. A tough stretch of three consecutive bogeys from holes 6 to 8 disrupted his rhythm early on. Although he responded with a birdie, another stroke loss on the back nine resulted in a 75 (+3). He dropped 40 places in the standings but safely made the cut.

Koepka Shows Comeback Skills on PGA Tour

In his PGA Tour comeback, Brooks Koepka showcased his class. After an opening round of +1, the Major winner improved dramatically with a 68 (-4) on the second day. Three birdies, an eagle, and only one bogey were enough for Koepka to narrowly make the weekend at -3 overall. He commented: \”I think yesterday I was excited to play, nervous, and unsure of what to expect. Today, I felt more normal.\”

Rose Pulls Away at the Top

Justin Rose remains the man to beat. Following an outstanding 62 (-10) in the opening round, the Englishman confirmed his top form with another strong 65 (-7). Six birdies and an eagle balanced by just one bogey gave him a total of -17, extending his lead to four strokes heading into the weekend. Rose can already celebrate a milestone after 36 holes, surpassing his previous personal best of -15 for the first two rounds.

International Chasers Lie in Wait

The best round of the day was posted by Joel Dahmen. The American shot a 63 (-9), including three eagles, and jumped 52 places to tie for third place with fellow American Max McGreevy at -11 overall, behind Rose (-17) and Seamus Power (-13, with a -6 round on the day).

Si Woo Kim continues to display strong season form. After top results in recent weeks (T11 and T6), he followed up with a 66 (-6) and sits fifth at -10 overall, remaining within striking distance of the lead.

Rosenmüller and Paul Miss Weekend Cut

Thomas Rosenmüller and Jeremy Paul failed to reach the weekend. Paul repeated an even-par round with four birdies and four bogeys, missing the cut at even par total. Rosenmüller, unable to capitalize on a good starting position, shot a 70 on day one and a 77 (+5) on Friday. Although solid on the front nine with one bogey and one birdie, mistakes piled
