PGA Tour: Two Germans Make the Cut as Justin Rose Extends Lead

Matti Schmid and Stephan Jäger secured the cut at the PGA Tour Farmers Insurance Open, while Justin Rose extended his lead.

Schmid and Jäger Make Weekend Cut

Matti Schmid ensured his spot for the weekend with a strong second round. After a 73 (+1) start, the German shot a flawless 67 (-5) on Friday. Despite beginning with a bogey, he remained flawless afterwards, sinking six birdies on holes 2, 5, 7, 11, 13, and 15, jumping 57 spots to a tied 45th place.

Stephan Jäger also made the cut for the weekend. The German stands at -4 after two rounds. A tough stretch with three consecutive bogeys on holes 6 to 8 disrupted his rhythm early on. Though he responded with a birdie, another bogey on the back nine led to a 75 (+3) score, dropping him 40 places but still comfortably within the cut.

Koepka Shows Comeback Form on PGA Tour

Brooks Koepka showcased his class during his PGA Tour comeback. After a +1 opening round, the major winner improved significantly with a 68 (-4) in the second round. Three birdies, an eagle, and one bogey brought him to -3 total, just making the weekend. \”I think I was nervous and uncertain yesterday, but today I felt more normal,\” Koepka remarked.

Rose Pulls Away at the Top

Justin Rose remains the man to beat. Following his outstanding opening 62 (-10), the Englishman confirmed his top form with another strong 65 (-7). Six birdies and an eagle offset just one bogey, improving his total to -17 and extending his weekend lead to four strokes. Rose already celebrated success after 36 holes, surpassing his previous personal best of -15.

International Chasers in Close Pursuit

Joel Dahmen fired the best round of the day, a 63 (-9) with three eagles, climbing 52 spots to a tie for third with compatriot Max McGreevy at -11. They trail Rose (-17) and Seamus Power (-
