Schmid and Jäger qualify for the weekend cut at the PGA Tour Farmers Insurance Open while Justin Rose expands his lead.
Schmid and Jäger Advance to the Weekend
Matti Schmid secures the cut with a strong second round. After an opening 73 (+1), the German fired a flawless 67 (-5) on Friday. Despite starting with a bogey, he remained error-free and made six birdies on holes 2, 5, 7, 11, 13, and 15, moving up 57 places to a tie for 45th.
Stephan Jäger also made it to the weekend, standing at -4 after two rounds. However, a tough stretch with three consecutive bogeys on holes 6 to 8 disrupted his rhythm. Despite a birdie response, another lost stroke on the back nine led to a 75 (+3), dropping him 40 places but keeping him safely in the cut.
Koepka Shows Comeback Form on PGA Tour
Brooks Koepka demonstrated his class in his PGA Tour comeback. After a +1 opening round, the Major winner improved with a 68 (-4) in round two, including three birdies, an eagle, and just one bogey, securing a spot in the weekend at -3 overall. Koepka said, ‘I think yesterday I was excited to play, nervous, and unsure what to expect. Today I felt more normal.’
Rose Pulls Away at the Top
Justin Rose remains the man to beat. After an outstanding 62 (-10) in round one, the Englishman confirmed his top form with a 65 (-7), including six birdies and an eagle against just one bogey. At -17 total, Rose extended his lead to four strokes ahead of the weekend. He also celebrated a personal best, surpassing his previous -15 after 36 holes.
