Two more German pros, alongside Stephan Jäger and Matti Schmid, qualified Monday for the Farmers Insurance Open.
At the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, the main talking point is Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour. However, beyond the star players, there’s much at stake for golfers even before the tournament officially begins.
PGA Tour Monday Qualifier
In the Monday Qualifier, 60 players competed for four spots at the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course. The qualifying event took place at Mission Viejo Country Club. Among the successful participants were two German players. Thomas Rosenmüller tied for first place with Sweden’s Henrik Norlander at seven under par. Norlander impressed with five consecutive birdies on the back nine, while Rosenmüller spread his nine stroke gains across the entire round. Starting on hole 10, Rosenmüller faced two bogeys on holes 7 and 9 but managed to stay at the top. Key to his success was reliably converting the par-5 holes into birdies to climb to the lead.
Sharing third place at five under par were Americans Hunter Logan and Jeremy Paul, who also qualified for the Farmers Insurance Open. Paul, who also started on hole 10, played a remarkable back nine featuring an eagle at hole 1, two birdies, and no bogeys. Thus, Rosenmüller and Paul complete the German contingent in Torrey Pines.

In the days leading up to the tournament, there were further changes to the field of the Farmers Insurance Open. Brian Campbell, Jimmy Stanger, Nico Echavarria, Patton Kizzire, and Michael Kim withdrew, allowing Matt Kuchar, Justin Lower, Taylor Moore, Joel Dahmen, and Sam Ryder to move into the field. Additionally, with Brooks Koepka’s participation expanding the field to 147 players, Jackson Suber and Lanto Griffin also gained entry.
