PGA Tour: Two Germans Qualify Through Monday Qualifier for Farmers Insurance Open

Two more German pros qualified Monday for the Farmers Insurance Open alongside Stephan Jäger and Matti Schmid.

At the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, the main topic is Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour. However, beyond the stars, much is at stake for many players even before the tournament officially begins.

PGA Tour Monday Qualifier

Sixty players competed for four starting spots at the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course in the Monday Qualifier, held at Mission Viejo Country Club. Among the successful participants were two German golfers. Thomas Rosenmüller shared first place with Swede Henrik Norlander at seven under par. Norlander impressed with five consecutive birdies on the back nine, while Rosenmüller spread his nine stroke gains evenly throughout the round. Starting on hole 10, Rosenmüller stumbled with two bogeys on holes 7 and 9 but remained at the top of the leaderboard. Key to his success was reliably converting the par-5s into birdies to maintain his lead.

At five under par, American Hunter Logan and Jeremy Paul tied for third place, also qualifying for the Farmers Insurance Open. Paul also started on hole 10 and delivered an outstanding back nine with an eagle on hole 1, two birdies, and no bogeys. Thus, Rosenmüller and Paul complete the German contingent at Torrey Pines.

In the days leading to the tournament’s start, several other changes occurred in the Farmers Insurance Open field. Brian Campbell, Jimmy Stanger, Nico Echavarria, Patton Kizzire, and Michael Kim withdrew, allowing Matt Kuchar, Justin Lower, Taylor Moore, Joel Dahmen, and Sam Ryder to move into the field. Additionally, with Brooks Koepka’s participation, the field expanded to 147 players, enabling Jackson Suber and Lanto Griffin to join.
