Two German Pros Qualify via Monday Qualifier for Farmers Insurance Open 2026

Besides Stephan Jäger and Matti Schmid, two more German pros qualified on Monday for the Farmers Insurance Open.

The Farmers Insurance Open 2026 has only one main topic: Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour. But beyond the stars, golfers have a lot at stake, some even before the official tournament begins.

PGA Tour Monday Qualifier

At the Monday Qualifier, 60 players competed for four starting spots in the tournament at the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course. The qualifying event was held at Mission Viejo Country Club. Among the successful participants were two German players. Thomas Rosenmüller tied with Sweden’s Henrik Norlander for first place at seven under par. Norlander impressed with five consecutive birdies on the back nine. Rosenmüller spread his nine stroke gains over the entire round. Starting on hole 10, he had two bogeys on holes 7 and 9 but remained at the top. Crucially, Rosenmüller reliably turned par-5s into birdies to play his way to the lead.

Sharing third place at five under par, American Hunter Logan and Jeremy Paul also qualified for the Farmers Insurance Open. Paul also started on hole 10 and had a formidable back nine with an eagle on hole 1, two birdies, and no bogeys. Thus, Rosenmüller and Paul complete the German contingent at Torrey Pines.

In the days before the tournament started, several other changes occurred in the Farmers Insurance Open field. Brian Campbell, Jimmy Stanger, Nico Echavarria, Patton Kizzire, and Michael Kim withdrew, allowing Matt Kuchar, Justin Lower, Taylor Moore, Joel Dahmen, and Sam Ryder to move up. Furthermore, with Brooks Koepka’s participation, the field size expanded to 147 players, also enabling Jackson Suber and Lanto Griffin to join.
