PGA Tour: Two German Professionals Qualify via Monday Qualifier for Farmers Insurance Open

Two more German professionals, alongside Stephan Jäger and Matti Schmid, qualified on Monday for the Farmers Insurance Open.

At the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, the main topic is Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour. However, beyond the star players, much is at stake for the golfers, some even before the tournament officially begins.

PGA Tour Monday Qualifier

Sixty players competed for four starting spots in the tournament at the renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course during the Monday Qualifier held at Mission Viejo Country Club. Among the successful participants were two German players. Thomas Rosenmüller shared first place with Swede Henrik Norlander, both finishing seven under par. Norlander impressed with five consecutive birdies on the back nine, while Rosenmüller spread his nine strokes gained evenly throughout the round. Starting on hole 10, he faltered slightly with two bogeys on holes 7 and 9 but maintained his lead. Crucially, Rosenmüller reliably turned par-5s into birdies to stay at the top.

Sharing third place at five under par were Americans Hunter Logan and Jeremy Paul, who also qualified for the Farmers Insurance Open. Paul, starting on hole 10 as well, delivered a strong back nine featuring an eagle on the first hole, two birdies, and no bogeys. Thus, Rosenmüller and Paul join the German contingent at Torrey Pines.

In the days leading up to the tournament, there were additional changes to the Farmers Insurance Open field. Brian Campbell, Jimmy Stanger, Nico Echavarria, Patton Kizzire, and Michael Kim withdrew, allowing Matt Kuchar, Justin Lower, Taylor Moore, Joel Dahmen, and Sam Ryder to enter. Furthermore, with Brooks Koepka’s participation, the field size increased to 147 players, enabling Jackson Suber and Lanto Griffin to join as well.
