PGA Tour: Two Germans Qualify Through Monday Qualifier for Farmers Insurance Open

Two more German professionals, alongside Stephan Jäger and Matti Schmid, qualified on Monday for the Farmers Insurance Open.

At the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, the main topic is Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour. However, beyond the star players, there is a lot at stake for other golfers, even before the tournament officially starts.

PGA Tour Monday Qualifier

In the Monday qualifier, 60 players competed for four starting spots in the tournament at the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course. The qualifying event was held at Mission Viejo Country Club. Among the successful participants were two German players. Thomas Rosenmüller shared first place with Swedish Henrik Norlander, both finishing seven under par. Norlander impressed with five consecutive birdies on the back nine, while Rosenmüller spread his nine stroke gains throughout the round. Starting on hole 10, he stumbled with two bogeys on holes 7 and 9 but remained at the top. Crucially, Rosenmüller reliably turned par-5 holes into birdies to maintain his lead.

With five under par, Americans Hunter Logan and Jeremy Paul shared third place, also qualifying for the Farmers Insurance Open. Paul also started on hole 10 and played an impressive back nine, including an eagle on hole 1, two birdies, and no bogeys. Thus, Rosenmüller and Paul join the German contingent in Torrey Pines.

In the days leading to the tournament, several other changes occurred in the Farmers Insurance Open field. Brian Campbell, Jimmy Stanger, Nico Echavarria, Patton Kizzire, and Michael Kim withdrew, enabling Matt Kuchar, Justin Lower, Taylor Moore, Joel Dahmen, and Sam Ryder to enter. Additionally, the field size expanded to 147 players with Brooks Koepka’s participation, allowing Jackson Suber and Lanto Griffin to move up.
