PGA Tour: Two German Pros Qualify Through Monday Qualifier for Farmers Insurance Open

Two more German pros, alongside Stephan Jäger and Matti Schmid, qualified Monday for the Farmers Insurance Open.

At the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open, the main topic is Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour. But beyond the stars, much is at stake for the golfers, some even before the tournament officially begins.

PGA Tour Monday Qualifier

In the Monday Qualifier, 60 players competed for four starting spots at the famous Torrey Pines Golf Course. The qualifying event took place at the Mission Viejo Country Club. Among the successful participants were two German players. Thomas Rosenmüller shared first place with Swedish Henrik Norlander at seven under par. Norlander impressed with five consecutive birdies on the back nine. Rosenmüller spread his nine stroke gains across the round. Starting on hole 10, he faced two bogeys on holes 7 and 9 but remained at the top. Crucially, Rosenmüller reliably converted par-5s into birdies to climb to the lead.

With five under par, Americans Hunter Logan and Jeremy Paul tied for third place, also qualifying for the Farmers Insurance Open. Paul also started on hole 10 and delivered a formidable back nine with an eagle on hole 1, two birdies, and no bogeys. This rounds out the German contingent at Torrey Pines with Rosenmüller and Paul.

In the days before the tournament started, several other changes to the Farmers Insurance Open field occurred. Brian Campbell, Jimmy Stanger, Nico Echavarria, Patton Kizzire, and Michael Kim withdrew, allowing Matt Kuchar, Justin Lower, Taylor Moore, Joel Dahmen, and Sam Ryder to move in. Furthermore, with Brooks Koepka’s participation, the field size expanded to 147 players, enabling Jackson Suber and Lanto Griffin to enter the tournament.
