Scottie Scheffler wins his 20th PGA Tour event before turning 30, dominating The American Express in 2026.
Scottie Scheffler started 2026 as usual: with a victory. He won The American Express on the PGA Tour by four strokes ahead of Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty, and Andrew Putnam who tied for second place, marking Scheffler as the second fastest player to reach 20 PGA Tour wins. With an impressive 66 in the final round, Scheffler took the lead as his competitors faltered.
PGA Tour: Scottie Scheffler Dominates The American Express
During the final round, Scheffler made birdies on half of the holes and could have won by an even larger margin if not for a double bogey on the island green at the 17th hole where he hit his ball into the water. Nevertheless, no one could match his 66. Si Woo Kim, the leader after three rounds, fell back with a 72 on Sunday, and 18-year-old Blades Brown, who just played the Korn Ferry Tour final in the Bahamas earlier that week and was tied with Scheffler after three rounds, dropped to a tie for 18th with a 74 on the final day.
Scheffler thus starts the new year as dominantly as ever. This marks his 16th consecutive top-ten finish, but he does not take his wins for granted. “There’s a reason we have to finish the tournament. You don’t get the trophy on the 16th hole. You have to finish the tournament. Today, I played in the final group against two incredibly talented players. Si Woo has so much talent; he’s excellent at golf. I met Blades for the first time, but any 18-year-old making the final flight of a PGA Tour event is doing something right. This is a course where you have to go out and play birdies. There were many challenges today, but I’m proud of how we played and the nice round we posted.”
