Scottie Scheffler wins his 20th PGA Tour title before turning 30. He dominates The American Express with a four-shot lead.
Scottie Scheffler starts 2026 as expected: with a victory. He secured The American Express title on the PGA Tour by four strokes, finishing ahead of Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty, and Andrew Putnam, reaching 20 PGA Tour wins faster than all but one player. His final round 66 placed him firmly in the lead while his rivals faltered.
PGA Tour: Scottie Scheffler Dominates The American Express
During the final round, Scheffler made birdies on half of the holes and could have won by even a greater margin if not for a double bogey on the 17th island green where he hit his ball into the water. Still, no one could match his 66. Si Woo Kim, who led after three rounds, shot a 72 on Sunday and fell back. Eighteen-year-old Blades Brown, who had just played the Korn Ferry Tour final on the Bahamas earlier in the week and was tied with Scheffler after three rounds, dropped to a tie for 18th after a 74.
With this victory, Scheffler starts the new year as dominantly as ever. It marks his 16th consecutive top-ten finish, yet he remains humble about his wins. “There is a reason why we have to finish the tournament. You don’t get the trophy at the 16th hole. You have to finish the tournament. I played in the last group today against two players who are really, really talented. Si Woo has so much talent; he’s very skilled at golf. I saw Blades for the first time, but any 18-year-old who makes it to the final flight of a PGA Tour event is doing something right. It’s a course where you have to go out and make birdies. So there were many challenges today, but I’m proud of how we played and put together a good round.”
