Scottie Scheffler Claims 20th PGA Tour Win at The American Express

Scottie Scheffler wins his 20th PGA Tour event before he turns 30.

Scottie Scheffler started 2026 as usual: with a victory. He won The American Express on the PGA Tour by four strokes over Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty, and Andrew Putnam who took second place. Scheffler became the second fastest player to reach 20 PGA Tour wins. His leading 66 round put him at the top while his competitors faltered.

PGA Tour: Scottie Scheffler Dominates The American Express

Scheffler birdied half of the holes in the final round and could have won by an even larger margin if he hadn’t hit his ball into the water on the 17th island green, resulting in a double bogey. Despite that, no one could match his 66. Si Woo Kim, who led after three rounds, couldn’t keep pace on Sunday and fell back with a 72. The 18-year-old Blades Brown, who had played the Korn Ferry Tour final on the Bahamas just days before and was tied with Scheffler after three rounds, dropped to tied 18th after a 74 in the final round.

Thus, Scheffler begins the new year as dominantly as ever. This marks his 16th consecutive top-ten finish, but he doesn’t take victories for granted. “There is a reason we have to finish the tournament. You don’t get the trophy on the 16th hole. You have to finish the tournament. Today I played in the last group against two really talented players. Si Woo has so much talent. He’s so good at golf. I saw Blades for the first time, but anyone 18 years old making the final flight of a PGA Tour event is doing something right. It’s a course where you have to go out and make birdies. There were many challenges today, but I’m proud of how we played and put together a nice round.”
