Scottie Scheffler Claims 20th PGA Tour Win at The American Express 2026

Scottie Scheffler wins his 20th PGA Tour event before turning 30.

Scottie Scheffler starts 2026 as expected: with a victory. He won The American Express on the PGA Tour by four strokes over Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty, and Andrew Putnam tied for second, becoming the second-fastest player to reach 20 PGA Tour wins. Scheffler surged to the top with a 66, leaving his competitors behind.

PGA Tour: Scottie Scheffler Dominates The American Express

Scheffler birdied half the holes in the final round and could have won by an even larger margin if he hadn’t hit his ball into the water on the par-3 17th, resulting in a double bogey. Nevertheless, his 66 was unmatched. Si Woo Kim, who led after three rounds, could not keep pace on Sunday and carded a 72 to fall back. 18-year-old Blades Brown, who had just played the Korn Ferry Tour final in the Bahamas on Wednesday and was tied with Scheffler after three rounds, dropped to T18 with a 74 in the final round.

Starting the new year so dominantly, Scheffler marked his 16th consecutive top-ten finish, though he does not take his wins for granted. “There’s a reason we have to finish the tournament. You don’t get the trophy on the 16th hole. You have to finish the tournament. I played today in the final group against two very talented players. Si Woo has so much talent; he’s so good at golf. I’ve never seen Blades before, but any 18-year-old reaching a PGA Tour final group is doing something right. It’s a course where you have to go for birdies. So there were many challenges today, but I’m proud of how we played and laid down a nice round.”
