Scottie Scheffler, not yet 30, secures his 20th victory on the PGA Tour.
Scottie Scheffler starts 2026 as expected: with a win. He claimed The American Express on the PGA Tour by four strokes ahead of Jason Day, Ryan Gerard, Matt McCarty, and Andrew Putnam tied for second, becoming the second fastest player to reach 20 PGA Tour wins. Scheffler shot a 66 to take the lead while his competitors faltered.
PGA Tour: Scottie Scheffler Dominates The American Express
During the final round, Scheffler made birdies on half the holes and could have won by an even larger margin if not for a double bogey on the island green at 17. Despite this, no one could match his 66. Si Woo Kim, the third-round leader, fell back with a 72, while 18-year-old Blades Brown, who tied with Scheffler after three rounds and had just played in the Korn Ferry Tour final on the Bahamas, dropped to a tie for 18th with a 74 in the final.
Scheffler begins the year as dominant as ever, marking his 16th consecutive top-ten finish. However, he does not take his victories for granted. “There is a reason why we have to finish the tournament. You don’t get the trophy at the 16th hole. You have to finish the tournament. Today, I played in the final group against two very talented players. Si Woo has so much talent; he’s so good at golf. I saw Blades for the first time, but any 18-year-old who makes it to the final flight of a PGA Tour event is doing something right. This is a course where you have to go out and make birdies. There were many challenges today, and I am proud of how we played and put together a great round,” Scheffler said.
