PGA and LPGA unite for season finale at Grant Thornton Invitational

PGA and LPGA join forces at the Grant Thornton Invitational in a mixed-team format — featuring Jessica Korda’s comeback.

From December 12 to 14, 2025, the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida will host the Grant Thornton Invitational, where the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour come together for a joint season finale in a mixed-team format. Sixteen male and sixteen female players will form mixed pairs, competing over three rounds with different formats each day. The event emphasizes teamwork, with no individual scoring, offering fans a festive and competitive atmosphere to close out the season.

Each tournament day features a different format:

Friday, December 12, 2025

  • Scramble: Both players tee off, then select the better ball and play their next shots from that spot. This continues until the ball is holed.

Saturday, December 13, 2025

  • Foursomes: Teammates alternate shots using the same ball. One player tees off on odd-numbered holes, the other on even-numbered holes.

Sunday, December 14, 2025

  • Fourballs: Both players tee off and switch balls for their second shots, then play that ball until holed. The lower score counts for the team.

Players and fans alike appreciate the unique challenge of this team event, which requires chemistry and coordination in an unusual format.

Jessica Korda returns at Grant Thornton Invitational

Six-time LPGA Tour winner and three-time Solheim Cup player Jessica Korda is making her first professional return this year. The 32-year-old older sister of two-time major champion Nelly Korda had stepped away from competition in May 2023 due to a back injury and worked as a commentator for last year’s event. Now, she returns alongside Bud Cauley, who also had to pause his career after a serious car accident.

“I’ve been watching from the media side for the past two years, and I really, really, really wanted to play,” said Korda. “When we talked about testing my body, this was a no-brainer. I’ve always loved this event and seeing how much fun everyone had gave me serious FOMO — I had to play.”

Her partner Bud Cauley added, “She’s been out for a while, but we’ve played a lot at home. We played nine holes when we arrived Tuesday. I’m a bit nervous for the modified alternate shot, but I know she’ll get me in the fairway. I’d love to return the favor.” Cauley previously suffered five broken ribs and a collapsed lung, requiring a lengthy recovery.

Nelly Korda also expressed her excitement: “Jessica’s been around, but I’m thrilled she’s back on the course this week. It’s always great to have family around. I hope she just enjoys it and takes it easy.”
