After his win in Dubai, Patrick Reed faces a decision: his LIV Golf contract remains unsigned as the Riyadh season opener approaches.
At a press conference following his victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour in the United Arab Emirates, Texan Patrick Reed spoke about his future with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf league. When asked whether he would participate in LIV Golf’s season opener in Riyadh in early February, Reed, who has been part of LIV Golf’s 4Aces GC team since June 2022, initially stated he should be ready for the next season, but further questioning followed.
LIV Golf Contract Not Yet Renewed
The 35-year-old revealed that he has not yet extended his LIV Golf contract, with about two weeks remaining to finalize details with the Saudi league before the LIV Golf Riyadh presented by ROSHN Group event from February 4 to 7. \”We are still working on the contract details,\” Reed said, adding, \”We’re not done yet.\”

Reed further explained that he prefers not to discuss business matters publicly during tournament stages: \”I don’t like to talk about business or similar things while playing. That’s why Monday to Wednesday is the only time to talk about it,\” he added. \”When I came here this week, I knew from Thursday onwards I would focus solely on golf. Starting tonight and tomorrow, we can talk about other things again.\”
Patrick Reed: \”I Currently Plan to Play in Riyadh\”
Reed is also entered in the next DP World Tour event, the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship. The upcoming days will be crucial for his LIV Golf future. Despite uncertainty, Reed expects to renew his contract: \”I haven’t spoken to the team at home or anything like that,\” he said. \”But at the moment, I plan to compete in Riyadh and would be surprised if we don’t.\”
In four LIV Golf seasons, Reed has finished three times in the top seven overall, and last season he claimed his first individual LIV Golf win in Dallas. Simultaneously, he remained active outside the league: last year he played 18 Official World Golf Ranking events, up from ten the previous year outside LIV. Ten of those were on the DP World Tour, where Reed holds lifetime membership despite ongoing fines due to his LIV involvement. Earlier this week, Reed stated he is willing to pay whatever is necessary to continue competing on the DP World Tour.
