Patrick Reed Yet to Renew LIV Golf Contract Ahead of Riyadh Season Start

After his Dubai victory, Patrick Reed faces a decision as his LIV Golf contract remains open, with the season opener in Riyadh approaching.

At a press conference following his win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour, Texan Patrick Reed addressed his future with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf. Asked whether he would participate in the LIV Golf season opener in Riyadh in early February, Reed, who has played for LIV Golf’s 4Aces GC team since June 2022, initially said he \”should be ready\” for the next season, but the question was pressed further.

LIV Golf Contract Not Yet Renewed

The 35-year-old has not yet renewed his contract with LIV Golf and plans to finalize the details with the Saudi league within the next two weeks ahead of the LIV Golf Riyadh tournament from February 4 to 7. \”We’re still working out the contract details,\” Reed said. \”We are not done yet.\”

Reed explained he prefers not to discuss business matters during tournament play, stating, \”I don’t like talking about business or similar stuff while playing. That’s why Monday to Wednesday is the only time to talk about it.\” He added, \”When I arrived here this week, I knew from Thursday on I would focus only on golf. Starting tonight and tomorrow, we can talk about other things again.\”

Patrick Reed: \”For Now, I Plan to Play in Riyadh\”

Reed will also be in the field for the next DP World Tour event, the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship. Despite the uncertainty, he expects to extend his contract: \”I haven’t spoken with the team at home or anything yet,\” Reed said. \”But for now, I plan to play in Riyadh, and I would be surprised if we don’t.\”
