Odyssey employs AI: The new Ai-DUAL putters feature smart insert designs to improve ball speed and putting precision.
Odyssey, a subsidiary of Callaway, has expanded its putter lineup with the new Ai-DUAL models, combining material innovation and novel design. The centerpiece is the Ai-DUAL Insert, a two-layer urethane element developed with Artificial Intelligence, featuring a soft outer layer and a firmer inner layer to ensure consistent ball speed across the face and improved forward roll. This insert is complemented by the new Forward Roll Design (FRD) groove, with a 19-degree incline, deeper and more pronounced than previous models, promoting more consistent forward roll across the face.
AI-Developed Entry-Level Models
The Ai-DUAL putters come in various versions. Standard models include a lightweight steel shaft with a counterweight at the grip end designed to stabilize the stroke. For players who prefer different balance, Odyssey offers Cruiser variants featuring a heavier head, longer and heavier shafts, and extended grips.
The Odyssey Ai-Dual Square 2 as a Zero-Torque Putter
An extension of the line is the Ai-DUAL Square 2 Square putters, which have a modern, center-shafted design positioning the shaft below the center of gravity, causing the putter to rest slightly upwards at the tip, achieving the ‘Zero Torque’ effect. This construction keeps the face relatively square throughout the stroke. Additionally, these models have a preset two-degree forward shaft lean to prevent accidental face opening during the forward press of the hands. A specially designed reverse-taper grip compensates for this, allowing a comfortable, parallel alignment of the grip and face.
