Odyssey introduces AI technology in its new Ai-DUAL putters to improve ball speed and putting precision through intelligent insert design.
Odyssey, a subsidiary of Callaway, has expanded its putter line with the new Ai-DUAL models, combining material innovation and novel design. At the core is the Ai-DUAL Insert, a two-layer urethane element developed with Artificial Intelligence. It consists of a soft outer layer and a firmer inner layer designed to deliver consistent ball speed across the face and improved forward roll. This insert is complemented by the new Forward Roll Design (FRD) groove, which at a 19-degree angle is deeper and more pronounced than previous models to promote more uniform forward roll across the clubface.
AI-Developed Models Also for Beginners
The Ai-DUAL putters come in various versions. Standard models feature a lightweight steel shaft with a counterweight at the grip end to stabilize the stroke. For players preferring a different balance, Odyssey offers Cruiser variants with a heavier head, longer and heavier shafts, and longer grips.
The Odyssey Ai-DUAL Square 2 as a Zero-Torque Putter
An extension of the line is the Ai-DUAL Square 2 Square putters, which feature a modern, centrally attached shaft design. This design positions the shaft below the center of gravity, causing the putter to rest slightly tip-up and achieving a ‘Zero Torque’ effect. This construction helps the clubface stay relatively square through the stroke. Additionally, these models have a built-in two-degree forward shaft lean that prevents accidental face opening during the forward press of the hands. A specially designed reverse-taper grip compensates for this setting, allowing for comfortable, parallel alignment of grip and clubface.
