Odyssey uses AI technology: The new Ai-DUAL putters aim to improve ball speed and putting precision through smart insert design.
Odyssey, a subsidiary of Callaway, has expanded its putter line with the new Ai-DUAL models, combining material innovation with novel design. Central to this is the Ai-DUAL insert, a two-layer urethane component developed using Artificial Intelligence. It features a soft outer layer and a firmer inner layer, designed to ensure consistent ball speed across the entire face and enhanced forward roll. This insert is complemented by the new Forward Roll Design (FRD) groove, which is deeper and more pronounced at a 19-degree tilt than previous models, promoting more consistent forward roll across the face.
AI-designed putters for all levels
The Ai-DUAL putters are available in various configurations. Standard models feature a lightweight steel shaft with a counterweight on the grip end to stabilize the stroke. For players seeking a different balance, Odyssey offers Cruiser variants with heavier heads, longer and heavier shafts, and extended grips.
The Odyssey Ai-DUAL Square 2 as a Zero-Torque Putter
An extension of the line is the Ai-DUAL Square 2 Square putters, which have a modern, center-shafted design. This design positions the shaft below the center of gravity, so the putter head rests slightly upward, achieving the ‘Zero Torque’ effect. This construction keeps the face relatively square during the stroke. Additionally, these models have a preset two-degree forward shaft lean to prevent accidental opening of the face when applying forward pressure with the hands. A specially developed reverse-taper grip compensates for this setup, allowing comfortable, parallel alignment of grip and face.
