Major winner Nelly Korda is ambivalent about the new Women’s Tomorrow Golf League, criticizes its concept and leaves her participation open.
The Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) announced earlier this year the expansion of its indoor league to include the LPGA Tour from late 2026, forming the Women’s Tomorrow Golf League (WTGL) featuring top LPGA players. While the WTGL has already announced participants like world number one Jeeno Thitikul from Thailand, three-time Olympic medalist Lydia Ko from New Zealand, and seven-time US Solheim Cup player Lexi Thompson from the United States, two-time major and Olympic champion Nelly Korda’s name was notably absent.
Nelly Korda Expresses First Criticism of WTGL
On Tuesday, Korda spoke for the first time about the new league in an interview with American golf magazine Golfweek. During a practice session at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Florida, she revealed mixed feelings and criticized the TGL: “I’m surprised no other players have spoken out. It’s really a shame we are not playing alongside the men. There is no better way to advance golf, and it would have been revolutionary. I believe it would have been the first time men and women played on the same course for the same prize money. But I also think it’s great that we have this opportunity. Those are my mixed feelings.”
Korda also suggested that instead of creating a separate women’s version of the TGL, it might have been possible to integrate a woman into existing men’s teams. She noted that many of her LPGA Tour colleagues share similar thoughts.
Additional WTGL Commitments: Zhang and Woad Join
Recently, WTGL announced two additional newcomers joining the emerging indoor league starting late 2026. Rose Zhang and Lottie Woad have also decided to compete with other teams at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The 27-year-old Korda said in a press conference that she is still considering participation: “I am still weighing the time commitment. I haven’t given it much thought yet because I have been focused fully on season preparation. Logistically, they still have a lot to sort out, so I will weigh my options soon.”
The Tomorrow Golf League was founded by two career Grand Slam winners Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland and Tiger Woods from the United States, alongside former NBC Sports manager Mike McCarley. The second season of the innovative men’s indoor league is set to start December 28, 2025, and will be broadcast live on Sky.
