Membership Restored, No Suspension: Koepka Back on the PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull launching on YouTube soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season beginning February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, known for intense motivation in top-level competition, found limited spark in LIV and originally joined in 2022 due to injury concerns and financial considerations for retirement. Questions remain whether he had to buy out his contract or repay part of his guaranteed salary. Despite stepping back, Koepka remains owner of the LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation surrounds Koepka’s next competitive stops: the DP World Tour, where he’d likely be immediately eligible possibly with penalties, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension from his last LIV event, a softened penalty from the previously lifetime ban imposed by former Commissioner Jay Monahan. Returning to the PGA Tour, which benefits financially and competitively from LIV defectors rejoining, seemed uncertain until ESPN reporter Mark Schlabach revealed Koepka formally requested reactivation of his PGA Tour membership last Friday.
