Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Immediately

First start at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to come back, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for his family. This was mutually agreed upon, according to an official statement by LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka is a competitor who gets highly motivated and fired up only in top-level competition, something he found limited in LIV. He actually joined LIV in 2022 mainly because he feared his career was ending due to injuries and sought a good retirement fund. Therefore, waiving the final contractual playing year is not surprising, though questions remain: Did he have to buy out his contract or return part of his guaranteed money? Does the 35-year-old still own his LIV team Smash GC, which has appointed Talor Gooch as the new captain?

Speculation is rife on which tours Koepka will play next. The DP World Tour would grant immediate eligibility, possibly requiring a penalty fee. Or the PGA Tour, where he serves a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, following former commissioner Jay Monahan’s reduction of lifetime bans. Being vengeful makes no sense when every returning LIV player, especially a star, benefits the already stronger tour. This key question got partially answered. ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, previously not renewed after 2022, seeking reentry to the player ranks.
