Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns to the PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh ready for another run, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season, which begins on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain affiliated with the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This friendly agreement was communicated by LIV CEO Scott McNeil. However, Koepka, a competitor who thrives on high-level competition, has shown limited motivation at LIV. His 2022 move to the Saudi-backed league was largely motivated by injury concerns and securing retirement funds. Hence, skipping the final contractual season is not surprising, though questions remain about buyout terms and his ownership status of the LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation arises about which tours Koepka will join next—immediate eligibility is possible on the DP World Tour maybe subject to penalties, or on the PGA Tour where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, after original lifetime bans by former Commissioner Jay Monahan were softened. This critical question is partly answered according to ESPN reporter Mark Schlabach: Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership for 2023 and be reinstated as a player.
