First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull launching on YouTube soon. The Back Nine.
As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This was reportedly agreed upon amicably, according to LIV-CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. But Koepka is a competitor who thrives in top-level contests, something that was limited in LIV. He initially joined LIV in 2022 mainly because injuries threatened to end his career and he wanted a solid retirement payout. So his skipping the final contracted season is not surprising, though questions remain about possible buyouts or repayments. He also remains the owner of LIV team Smash GC, with Talor Gooch as new captain.
Speculation now revolves around where Koepka will play next: DP World Tour, where he would be immediately eligible—possibly with a penalty—or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension after his last LIV appearance, following reduced lifetime bans. Why be vindictive when every LIV returnee benefits the dominant PGA Tour? This key question seems partially answered: ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reports Koepka formally applied last Friday to reinstate his PGA Tour membership and rejoin the players’ ranks.
