Koepka’s Membership Renewed: No Suspension, Returns to PGA Tour

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This was amicably agreed upon, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. However, Koepka is a competitive type, motivated by high-level competition, which LIV failed to consistently provide. He joined LIV in 2022 primarily because injuries threatened to end his career and he wanted a solid retirement fund. Thus, skipping the final contractual playing year is not surprising, though questions remain about buyout or repayment of guaranteed money. He remains owner of the LIV team Smash GC, which appointed Talor Gooch as captain.

Speculation focuses on which tours Koepka will appear on next: DP World Tour, where he could play immediately—possibly with a penalty—or the PGA Tour, where he must serve a one-year suspension after his last LIV event, following softened lifetime bans imposed by former commissioner Jay Monahan. The key question seems partially answered: ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reports Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership and rejoin the player pool.
