Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Play

First start at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull soon launching a YouTube channel. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has formally withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, a fierce competitor who thrives in high-level contests, was less motivated on LIV. He joined LIV in 2022 due to injury fears and to secure a solid retirement fund. His skipping the final contractual season raises questions: Did he buy out or repay part of his guaranteed salary? Does the 35-year-old remain owner of LIV team Smash GC, now led by captain Talor Gooch?

Speculation revolves around where Koepka will next play: the DP World Tour, where he is immediately eligible possibly after a penalty, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension following his last LIV event after the former lifetime bans by Commissioner Jay Monahan were softened. Why be punitive when every returning LIV star strengthens the well-established Tour? According to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership abandoned after 2022 and to rejoin the playing field.
