Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Back on the PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. However, Koepka, known as a competitive type who thrives in high-stakes sporting challenges, has been less motivated in LIV. He switched to the Saudi-backed league in 2022 primarily because of injury concerns and to secure a substantial retirement fund. Given this, it is not surprising he declined to play the final contracted season, though questions remain about buyouts or paybacks. At 35, he still owns the LIV team Smash GC, which named Talor Gooch as the new captain.

Speculation intensifies about where Koepka will next compete—on the DP World Tour, where immediate eligibility is possible likely with a fine, or on the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension since his last LIV start, after Jay Monahan’s lifetime bans were softened. Why hold grudges when prominent LIV returnees benefit the PGA Tour, which holds the upper hand? This question seems partly answered as ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reports Koepka formally applied last Friday to reinstate his PGA Tour membership, which was not renewed after 2022.
