As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season, starting February 7 in Riyadh. The five-time major winner intends to stay connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for his family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. However, Koepka is known as a competitor who thrives in top-level tournaments, something he lacked in LIV. In 2022, he joined LIV mainly due to injury concerns threatening his career and to secure a strong retirement fund. Given this, it’s not surprising he opted out of his final contractual playing season, though questions remain about potential buyouts or partial salary repayments. Meanwhile, he retains ownership of his LIV team Smash GC, which recently appointed Talor Gooch as captain.

The main speculation revolves around where Koepka will next compete. Will it be the DP World Tour where he might be immediately eligible, possibly with a penalty? Or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension from his last LIV appearance, although lifetime bans were softened by former commissioner Jay Monahan?
